Fundraising and hard work has finally paid off for Mrs. Rumph. A few years ago, Mrs. Rumph had a goal to purchase a book vending machine for students at Parkers Chapel, and has worked hard for that goal to happen by hosting two book fairs each school year. A few weeks ago, her librarian dreams came true when her vending machine was delivered!
Students earn tokens from our staff to “buy” books for good behavior and can use their token to select which book they want. The book is the student's book to keep. The vending machine has been stocked with books for all ages and interests. Mrs. Rumph is excited to see the excitement from both younger and older students. According to Mrs. Rumph, “The buzz up and down the hallways the last few weeks has been about the book vending machine. Several high school students have stopped by to ask how they can purchase a book from it and have been shocked to hear that the books are free. They have given us a hard time about not having one when they were in elementary school.”
Any librarian will agree with Mrs. Rumph when she happily stated, “It’s nice to know that we are able to reward students with books in a fun way.”
